I enjoyed running the Riverton Half Marathon this morning, despite all the strong headwinds and hills.  This was my first half marathon which was not part of a full.

1. 6:35

2. 6:42     13:17

3. 7:05     20:22

4. 6:42     27:04

5. 6:54     33:58

6. 7:17     41:17

7. 7:08     48:24

8. 7:23     55:47

9. 6:40     1:02:27

10. 7:30     1:09:57

11. 6:53     1:16:50

12. 6:47     1:23:38

13. 6:25     1:30:03

.12  0:40    1:30:43

I got passed during mile 6 by one guy, then passed again during mile 8.  I hate to admit it, but the second time I was passed I was walking while drinking some Gatorade (and was wussing out).  I was not gaining on the 2 guys ahead of me and had a sizeable gap on anyone behind me, so I wussed out again and walked during mile 10 on the steep switchback.  (Totally mental, oh well.)  At least I started running an ran all the way in.

Overall I consider it a good effort.  On the bright side, I was not chicked and feel the course was fairly difficult, especially having to take on all the headwind alone.

It was also good to see a number of bloggers.

Great job Paul!!!! All of that treadmill running is paying off. That is a great time.

Nice job Paul (even though you wussed out a couple of times). A coworker tried talking me into running this. I'm glad I didn't succumb to the peer pressure.

Super-duper race, Paul. How were the hills along the course?

From rockness18 on Sat, Mar 28, 2009 at 21:46:06 from 75.16.162.226

Nice job in challenging conditions on a tough course! One building block towards a sub-3.

Did you get an AG award?

From RivertonPaul on Sat, Mar 28, 2009 at 21:50:32 from 75.169.17.106

Dale, I got 2nd in the 40-45 group, the guy immediately ahead of me got 1st. Tbean from the blog got 3rd.

Great race Paul on what sounds like a very difficult course. And you walked some and still ended up just over 1:30. Wow! A few more miles before Ogden and you will be ready for that sub 3 you are shooting for.

Hey, that is one heck of an awesome race Mr Paul! That switchback is a killer, I dread it for the entire mile leading up to it. I get totally psyched out by it, it scares me!!!!

We enjoyed our Pizza afterward at the Rocky Mountain Pizza place (is that the right name). We about filled the banquet room, you shoulda joined us!

Great time on the run. I was just glad to finish and know that I had never done one before so anytime was a PR yeah for me. You did great though!!!!

From Burt on Sun, Mar 29, 2009 at 00:33:05 from 98.167.151.26

Great job, Paul. You're in the 40-45 age group? I thought Flash Gordon has been around since 1934.

Way to go Paul! You are awesome! (For a stepper:)

From RAD on Sun, Mar 29, 2009 at 02:11:06 from 67.166.99.8

Paul, nice race! I'm sure I saw you finish, but not ever meeting you in person is a drawback to trying to cheer for people you know :) I couldn't run, I woke up with strep yesterday...but couldn't pass up a good afternoon basking in everyone else's runners high and eating (I was 24 hrs on antibiotics and cleared to mingle with public). Next race I'll have to MEET you and try to chick you of course :)

Didn't see you, but great job today! You have some wicked speed.

Nice race, Paul! I'm glad I wasn't running in as cold of temperatures as you guys were.

Great job Paul!

Nice race, Paul. It's good to see you and Terry both running well. It's good to see someone named Paul beat Terry...it's not likely to be me anytime soon. It's also good to know neither of you are in my age division.
