Mentally, I was very weak (no real excuse for all the walking I did).  I will post splits and details later.

 1
6:54  Running with AmberG, mooching off of her awesomeness.
 2
7:16 14:11Nothing much happening.
 3
7:31 21:43Backed off, letting Amber run ahead.
 4
7:12 28:55Already some dang headwinds messing with my brain.
 5
 6:49 35:44I love downhill.
 6
 7:25 43:09Uphill stretch
 7
7:01 50:11Steady uphill begins after last little downhill jaunt for a while.
 8
 7:43 57:50Alone in the wind.
 9
 7:36 1:05:31Mentally not into it.
 10
 7:28 1:12:59Still chugging along.
 11
7:39 1:20:38Last year this felt better.
 12
7:50 1:28:29Holding back, bad aid station exchange at last one.
 13
 7:47 1:36:17

Noted half (Garmin) around

Half in 1:37:xx

Woman who ended up in second passed me around here.

 14
8:03 1:44:20Already I was wanting to skip the uphill.
 15
8:47 1:53:07Pulling way back on the pace.  Lame
 16
10:54 2:04:02Major wuss out and walked to crest of Deer Valley.  Gave away almost 3 minutes in this mile compared to last year.
 17
 7:36
2:11:40At least I started moving again.
 18
7:23 2:19:04Did not really open up like I should have on the downhill.
 19
8:39 2:27:44I never really get going again.  Not so concerned about walking Empire its the walk leading up to and after that was LAME.  I do recall telling the photographer that it was a poor place to take photos of everyone walking the hill.  I wonder if she moved.
 20
8:29 2:36:13Slacking big time, walking and even waited for Patrick Clifford to run up on me so I might have some company.
 21
 7:162:43:29
Finally got moving again, thanks to Patrick
 22
8:01 2:51:30I've got to learn to keep running even when it doesn't seem to matter.
 23
 7:25 2:50:29Running with Patrick still.
 24
7:22 2:59:41Ironically, I'm not breathing anywhere near as hard as Patrick, I just won't suck it up.
 25
8:45 3:09:45No chance for 3:20 so I let Patrick go, and I dog another mile with some walking.
 26
8:12 3:23:16Walking until I decide its time to run.  Actually hit 5:15 pace when I decided to go as the finish was near.
26.2

0:28  (5:14 pace)
3:23:44 (4 seconds late in stopping compared to chip time.)
All my resting made this part of the run very easy.  Best pace was actually 4:54 during this little stretch and I didn't sprint full out.  Lame to have so much left in the tank.

Lots of work to do before SGM.

Hey Paul, you had a great race and you walked away with an AG prize. Congrats

From DonGardinero on Mon, Aug 23, 2010 at 12:22:57 from 75.162.160.32

Must have been after I saw you when you started walking. You looked like you were floating right along. Congrats on the AG placing.

It was the bib# 550 = none, not, nothing!!! Just one of those "mentally not into the game" days!

Sorry I wasn't that much help sending any positive vibes to you pre-race! But thanks for hanging out with me before and after the race! I really appreciate your friendship. Larry said to me: "I really like that Paul! Oh, and he uses his real name on the blog?" I said, kinda there are other Pauls but he is THE ONE and ONLY RivertonPaul!

congrats on hardware. I hear you were looking good and strong as always.

From AmberG on Mon, Aug 23, 2010 at 17:34:12 from 75.162.143.48

That's an incredible time if you really spent a lot of time walking! Wow! It was so fun to meet you and run with you for a few miles! THanks for saying hi! I'll check back for the report. . . .my kids enjoyed your Star Wars Youtube post, , , I should check your blog more often! I'm not that great of a blog-checker!

From Mike Warren on Mon, Aug 23, 2010 at 17:40:31 from 207.50.149.221

Your just saving it all for STG! Like Amber said, pretty impressive time with the walking.

From Mikal Epperson on Mon, Aug 23, 2010 at 18:59:58 from 207.200.116.8

It was great to see you at Deer Valley, but I could definitely tell that it wasn't your day mentally. I wish I could say I did a lot of walking, but I didn't, and you were still only a few short moments from me at the finish!

From josse on Mon, Aug 23, 2010 at 19:02:31 from 75.220.154.57

Geez marathon man, how many more are you doing this year? It's tough when your head isn't in the game, that usually means you need a break. silly

From Teena Marie on Mon, Aug 23, 2010 at 19:38:19 from 174.52.45.85

Walking??? And you still got that time??? Dang!!!

All I know is that you seemed to be flying when I saw you.

Your SGM is going to be beyond BOSCH!!! :)

From Andy on Tue, Aug 24, 2010 at 16:06:26 from 159.212.71.25

You've do enough of these that days like this are bound to happen. Still an impressive time for that course. It was great to see you.

From JD on Tue, Aug 24, 2010 at 16:19:25 from 70.96.78.157

Another quality long run in the bank as you prepare for SGM.

From Smooth on Tue, Aug 24, 2010 at 17:21:41 from 174.23.203.161

PC is a tough one to try to get in the groof! Like Andy said, it's bound to happen. But trust that your training is solid and you have speed and talents in them legs of yours. It'll come out when it matters most! Another Slam mary under the belt and a respectable time to boot! :)

From Kelli on Wed, Aug 25, 2010 at 13:02:52 from 71.219.102.155

Park City is tough, I am super impressed with that time especially since you were mentally struggling. You have had a great year, really!

From flatlander on Wed, Aug 25, 2010 at 13:04:02 from 198.207.244.102

Good job anyway, you have a lot of natural speed to post a time like that on a bad day.
