I've been a poor blogger, I know.  It is difficult to blog when injured.  Update:

Last Wednesday I visited with Dr. Joseph Albano, who specializes in tendon injuries.  He confirmed that I do have achilles tendonosis and showed me a bunch of the interstitial tears on ultrasound.  Previously I believed I was not at risk for rupture, but he informed me taht my condition has progressed to the point where I am at risk for rupture so I have to avoid some of my activities.  Bummer.  He also confirmed that he believes my best treatment option is to inject platelet-rich plasma (PRP) along with some of my own fat (rich in stem cells) into the achilles guided by ultrasound. Although there exists a bunch of positive research and experience to support the use of PRP injections to treat achilles tendonisis, unfortunately with regard to the achilles, insurance companies still deem it "experimental" and my insurance carrier will not cover the procedure.  Nevertheless, I am going to go ahead and have it done.  The downside (apart from the fact it is supposed to be very painful), I will have to do lots of cross training, and have to undergo another 1 or two injections.  So, despite having already registered, I'm out of Ogden and Utah Valley and the Slam.  I'll have to see how recovery is going to see if I can sneak in a fall marathon.

Warning, boring but general informational video:

My first PRP injection is scheduled for this afternoon.  I'm glad to be doing something affirmatively.
