Just thinking that back in early 1986 I got my first CD player (spent over $500 on it) and transitioned away from the vinyl.  Yes, I was an early adopter.

I remember buying my first CD from Raspberry Records on Highland Drive, Dire Straits' Brothers In Arms (although my copy was not the remixed version now available) specifically because it was one of the first albums to be directed at the CD market, and was a full digital recording at a time when most popular music was recorded on analog equipment.  (Wasn't I cool.)

Now, lest you think I was too cool, I recall that my second CD purchase was a 2 disc set from the Carpenters.(Note the link is to the 1999 remix of the earliler CD)

Next was Cat Stevens' Greatest Hits

Followed by what has become a long lead up to the purpose this post which was me listening to some satellite radio which was playing some Dan Fogelberg on the way to work work and me recalling one of my favorite albums which was the next of my early CDs, Dan Fogelberg's Nether Lands

Hey the Carpenters are cool. And so is Fogleberg even though we used to make fun of him.

I know what I'll be listening to all day now. So, if you'll excuse me...

Nice mix, I was dating my hubby in HS in the late 90's when he bought a dvd player for $800!! (too much disposable income!) You tech savvy guys never get uncool stuff :)

Just looking over your last few posts. Can't believe you can pool run for 100 minutes! That is crazy diehard!

Can't help but laugh thinking about how cool you must have seemed to all of your friends with your state of the art CD player!!!

Nice music selection. The first CD Player we bought at RC Willey cost $350 back in the mid-90's and the first CD ever purchased, to go along with the CD player, was the Stone Temple Pilots (Purple) album, which I listened to once, followed by Men At Work (Cargo) and then Huey Lewis and the News (Sports). A few years later I started getting all of my CD's from the library. Now I have a vast library of my own CD's collecting dust.

Oh yeah, the last CD I ever bought was Steely Dan's "Two Against Nature" the day my son was born, which also happened to be the same day Steely Dan won a Grammy for Album of the Year for the same Album. Good times.

Dale, fun thinking about the music we listen to, isn't it?

Yes, it is great fun. I'm such a music junkie. Lately I've stumbled onto a singer/song writer/musician that I can't get enough of. Her name is Esperanza Spalding. Nice and jazzy.
